Set against the backdrop of Parisian markets, rural villages on the outskirts of the city, theaters, and high society, this story—in which Sibylle, a young vegetable seller at the market, finds happiness guided by three prophecies from a fortune-teller—is depicted with a lighthearted touch.\nIn this production, the nostalgic sentiment for the Belle Époque era that permeates the work is richly evoked through the comical and sophisticated direction of Michel Foix, who is also active as a comic actor. The cast’s lighthearted vocal performances—particularly the beautiful singing of Julie Fuchs in the title role—are perfectly suited to their characters.
