Sol Gabetta, a popular cellist from Argentina, has released numerous albums, including concertos, solo works, and various concept albums. Though their artistic styles may seem vastly different at first glance, the two have been close friends since meeting in 2002 and have performed together frequently. They previously collaborated on Kopatchinskaja’s album *Illuminated Pleasure* (ALPHA580\/NYCX-10180), they performed together in Francisco Koy’s Double Concerto; now, at long last, their duo album has been released. Centered on works by Ravel and Kodály, the album features a diverse selection of pieces, including duets by composers ranging from Xenakis, Ligeti, Wittmann, and Marković, as well as works by C.P.E. Bach and J.S. Bach in which the right and left hands of keyboard pieces are arranged as a duet.
