His Trio No. 2, recorded here for the first time worldwide, consists of seven movements featuring pleasant, folk-inspired melodies that are easy on the ear. Leo Sawaby was a composer who established his reputation as the organist and choir director at St. James Church in Chicago. Unlike the serenity of the religious works he was known for, this trio is a lively piece with an energetic atmosphere. The Lincoln Trio, who perform here, are accomplished musicians who have been nominated for two Grammy Awards.
