This production, which premiered in 2018, was also performed in Kanazawa and Tokyo that same year with the Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa conducted by Minkowski, where it was a great success. It is particularly pleasing that the soloists—with the exception of Geneviève and the Doctor—are the same as those in the Japanese performances.\nA highlight is the balance of strength and delicacy born from the steady vocal prowess of Barbelac as Peleas and Skerato as Mélisande; the supporting cast, led by Duamel as Golo, also delivers a superb performance. Kere, who plays Ynyold—a role that also features a boy soprano—is a soprano still in her teens and skillfully portrays this nuanced character.
