Active primarily in Bruges and Antwerp—and particularly involved in the thriving music publishing scene in Antwerp—many of his works were printed and circulated, leaving behind a substantial body of chansons (secular songs) with French lyrics and sacred works with Latin lyrics. Spanning both genres, the musical world presented by these four singers in a cappella performances offers a rich blend that straddles the line between the pinnacle of Renaissance polyphony and the undulating music leading into the Baroque era.
