From recitatives played by string instruments to and solos performed throughout by a wide range of instruments—from the flute to the double bass—make this a series packed with highlights. While this collection poses a significant challenge even for contemporary ensembles, Il Giardino Armonico, as expected from a group of consummate musicians, delivers a performance brimming with brilliance in every detail. Not only is the sound rich with the textural quality of carefully selected period instruments, but the entire ensemble moves with the unity of a single living organism, allowing the listener to savor its flexible dynamism—a thrilling experience that fully conveys the unique charm of Haydn’s compositional style.
