The large ring and cone used as stage props in *Das Rheingold* are carried over into this production as well, appearing in various scenes—such as the cone resembling a rocket warhead ridden by the Valkyries and the ring of fire surrounding the rocky mountain where Brünnhilde sleeps. This production once again brings together a cast of talented Bulgarian singers dressed in costumes reminiscent of characters from special-effects monster movies. Among them, Martin Iliev, who sings the role of Siegmund, is a talented tenor who gained popularity for his portrayal of Calaf in *Turandot* during the Sofia National Opera’s 2015 tour of Japan. His dignified performance and singing as Siegmund in Act I truly shine. Under the baton of Pavel Balev, Wagner’s music is even more dramatic than in the previous production.
