Both works are more classically structured than other works of the time, but are alive with free ideas, and are interspersed with familiar melodies, demonstrating that Bruch's style remained unwavering throughout his life. This is the second release on the ALPHA label by an ensemble of Cologne WDR Symphony Orchestra members, following Beethoven (ALPHA 585), and they sing with empathy the works of the great composer from Cologne, where they work.
