Selected as the label’s first release is a live recording of “Mahler: Symphony No. 7” conducted by Kirill Petrenko, who served as Music Director from 2013 to 2020!\nThe concerts, held in Munich on May 28 and 29, 2018, overwhelmed audiences and critics alike with the intense tension created by Petrenko’s ultra-precise, ultra-dense performance and meticulous control—a hallmark of this fiery perfectionist—and were met with thunderous applause during the subsequent London performances as well. This is a release worthy of the label’s debut.\n\nThe Bavarian State Opera traces its origins to the court opera of the Elector of Bavaria, founded in the 17th century, and is one of Germany’s most prestigious opera houses, with a history of premiering operas by Mozart and Wagner. It has welcomed some of the greatest conductors in music history—including Hans von Bülow, Bruno Walter, Hans Knappertsbusch, Georg Solti, Clemens Krauss, Rudolf Kempe, Josef Keilberth, Wolfgang Sawallisch, and Kirill Petrenko—it boasts a glorious history built in collaboration with these world-renowned conductors and a stellar lineup of opera singers.\nThrough its newly launched in-house label, the company will release carefully curated selections from future performances as well as past recordings and video performances.
