On May 26, 1821, the new Royal Theater opened in Berlin, the capital of the Kingdom of Prussia, which was making remarkable progress. The following week, the same composer's \"Concerto for Piano and Orchestra\" was premiered at the same theater. The theater, designed by the great architect Schinkel, who would later lead the completion of Cologne Cathedral, was destroyed during World War II, but was restored in October 1984 under the name \"Schauspielhaus. During the East German period, it became the home of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra (now the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra) led by Kurt Sanderling, and in December 1989, just after the Berlin Wall was opened, musicians from the opposing countries of World War II gathered for a commemorative concert under the baton of Bernstein, The Berliner Musikverein boasts a unique tradition in Berlin's musical history. In 2021, to commemorate the bicentennial of the theater's opening, we will record a Weber album featuring the talented Helmchen, who was born in Berlin and has often visited Japan, and Prohaska, who has shown his outstanding personality based in Berlin, under the baton of Christoph Eschenbach, who will become the music director of the Konzerthaus Orchestra in 2019. Weber album featuring important numbers from \"The Magician\" under the direction of Christoph Eschenbach, who will become the Konzerthaus Orchestra Music Director in 2019! The album also includes a small concerto associated with the theater, the overture to \"Oberon,\" the composer's last masterpiece, and the overture to \"Lübetzahl,\" which was adapted for concert use, offering a multifaceted taste of Weber's genius. The acoustics of the theater space are vividly captured by the master engineer Stefan Reh, making this a commemorative recording that highlights the charms of a masterful performance with vivid intonation.
