This ring, said to grant boundless power to whoever possesses it, is deceived from Alberich by Wotan, the leader of the gods, with the help of the fire god Loge. Enraged, Alberich places a curse of death upon the ring, forcing Wotan to reluctantly hand it over to the giant brothers as part of the price for the castle he had them build. Led by Wotan, the gods cross the rainbow bridge and enter Valhalla. From this point on, the decline of the gods begins.\n\nBulgaria, known as the “Land of Song,” has produced numerous renowned singers, including Boris Christoff and Vesselina Kasarova. This recording features a 2010 production of Wagner’s *The Ring of the Nibelung*, staged with the full support of the Sofia National Opera, one of the country’s leading institutions. The first installment is the Prologue, *Das Rheingold*. Since the end of World War II, new productions of *The Ring of the Nibelung* have emerged one after another at opera houses around the world, generating buzz each time. This production by the Sofia National Opera, with its innovative staging, added a new chapter to the work’s performance history. This production of *Das Rheingold* begins with an opening sequence reminiscent of classic science fiction films, and and the set designed by Nikolay Panayotov features a giant disk symbolizing the Rhine River—within which the Rhine Maidens sing while bouncing on trampolines—and numerous cones suspended from the stage, with projection mapping used to depict the changing scenes. Many of the characters appear in comical, kitschy costumes reminiscent of animated film characters.\nThe production brought together a lineup of Bulgaria’s most accomplished singers. In particular, the performances of Ostretsov, who sang the role of Roege, and Mekki-Tsvetkova, who played the role of Elda, were highly acclaimed, and conductor Pavel Balev received the honor of “Conductor of the Year” in Bulgaria for this production.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Dynamic","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53374659100961,"sku":"4589538765453","price":4950.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538765453.jpg?v=1787632233","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4589538765453","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
