Although he had been attracting attention from an early age, his popularity in Europe really took off after he won the 2018 Gilmore Artist Award and the Royal Philharmonic Society’s “Instrumentalist of the Year” award in 2018. In June 2020, he caused a major sensation when he streamed a performance of Satie’s *Vexations*, repeating the piece 840 times as the composer intended. He is scheduled to make his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in March 2021.
