Composed when Rosner was 28 years old, this Requiem draws not on the traditional Latin text, but on a wide range of texts from around the world, including poems by the American poet Walt Whitman and the French poet François Villon, as well as Tibetan and Japanese scriptures and the Jewish prayer “Kaddish.” Furthermore, while incorporating Renaissance polyphony, the work as a whole adheres to a Romantic style, creating a captivating atmosphere.
