Only a handful of his works remain, but the TOCCATA label has undertaken the task of recording them and has already released two volumes of his complete orchestral works as world premiere recordings. This third volume features seven works, including the “Coronation March” for Edward VII, which was Nixon’s final composition. Nixon’s music reveals influences from Mendelssohn, Schumann, Weber, and Sullivan, and these recordings clearly demonstrate that he was an outstanding musician in his own right.
