This was a collection of pieces by Granada-born guitarist and composer Murciano (1795-1848), who freely arranged existing works into the Granada folklore music of the rondeña (a form of fandango, the original form of flamenco). It is said that he was self-taught, yet able to play a wide variety of tunes at will on the seven-string guitar that had been created for him. The song placed at the beginning of the album was written by Glinka, who actually met Murciano and was so impressed that she wrote down the songs he played in her notebook. You can also enjoy various other pieces written inspired by Rondeña. The second half of the album includes a piece accompanied by a song, a unique piece that evokes the landscape of Granada in the 19th century.
