It is a work with a kind of intoxicating charm, in which the saxophones’ diverse timbres accent the choral music—which possesses a sense of floating and mystery reminiscent of choral works by Schnittke and Ligeti.\n\nExodus 14:19–21 from the Old Testament. This passage depicts the famous scene where Moses parts the sea and an angel protects the people as a pillar of cloud (and a pillar of fire at night); Each verse consists of 72 characters, and it is said that when these are arranged according to a specific rule and read vertically, the names of the 72 angels described in Kabbalah—the mystical tradition of Judaism and Christianity—appear.
