Neither a tenor nor a bass, it stands as a distinct category of its own, known for its prominent role in performing the basso continuo and improvising.\n\n\nThe performer, Paolo Biordi, is a renowned virtuoso who serves as a professor of viola da gamba at the Florence Conservatory of Music and has made numerous recordings.
