Drawing deeply on the story of Medusa from Greek mythology, the Royal Ballet’s prima ballerina, Natalia Osipova, passionately portrays a woman at the mercy of an absurd fate. Ryoichi Hirano’s portrayal of Poseidon—a symbol of patriarchal oppression—is overwhelmingly commanding. The music features a unique composition in which Purcell’s compositions evoke the archaic world of mythology, contrasted with the dreamlike effects of electronic music.\n“Flight Patterns” by choreographer Crystal Pite, who has garnered worldwide attention for her themes that earnestly confront various issues in contemporary society.
