She originally asked Shostakovich and Khachaturian to arrange it, but her husband, Shchedrin, eventually took over the job and created a unique arrangement with \"strings, four percussionists, and timpani. The Suite, with its exciting sound and modern revival, has become an important part of the orchestra's repertoire in the 21st century, and Jansons makes full use of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra's high mobility from the mysterious opening of the overture to the end of the piece. The rhythmic and ever-changing percussion is also a highlight of the performance. On the other hand, \"Pines of Rome\" is another work in which Respighi's characteristic skillful orchestration is utilized to the utmost limit. Through the pines that dominate the landscape of Rome, Jansons painstakingly unravels Respighi's attempt to depict the vision of ancient Rome by effectively echoing Gregorian chant, birdsong, and other sounds, while carefully navigating through the fantasy. In \"Pines on the Appian Way,\" which concludes the entire work, a large scale sound structure with resounding and heroic fanfares is brought to an impressive climax with the power of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, one of the best orchestras in the world.
