Europa Retrovata is a Brussels-based group that performs on ancient instruments in collaboration with composers of the same era. The album includes works by Finnish harpsichordist Tiensu, a pioneer of their activities, as well as works by flute and recorder master Linde, female composers such as Morlock of Canada and Fonteyn of Belgium, and the young Greek composer Leontiris. The sound is very interesting, making full use of the heavy notes and fluttering of the traverso (baroque flute), internal playing and elbow playing of the harpsichord, flageolet and body percussion on the gamba, col legno, and other special techniques, as well as effective echoes, all of which are very interesting and avant-garde works. The sound is very interesting, and although they are all avant-garde works, they can be listened to with great interest.
