Berlioz, who was deeply enamored with Gluck, conceived the idea of reworking this piece. He not only cast a mezzo-soprano in the title role of Orpheus and expanded the instrumental ensemble but also inserted cadenzas into several arias, transforming the entire work into a more spectacular production. As a result, the performance was a resounding success. In this performance, the two title roles—Marianne Klebassa (Orpheus), one of the finest mezzo-sopranos of our time, and Hélène Guemmet (Eurydice), a soprano garnering attention in the early music world—along with Léa Desandres (Goddess of Love), deliver magnificent performances. Furthermore, against a modern and beautifully designed set, the dancers perform a series of striking choreographed pieces. Pichon, who masterfully conducts the Ensemble Pygmalion, supports the singing and dancing while creating music that combines lightness and depth, thereby capturing the essence of this work—which can be described as a timeless collaboration between Gluck and Berlioz.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Naxos","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53525303329057,"sku":"4589538746568","price":4400.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4589538746568.jpg?v=1789730735","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4589538746568","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
