At the age of five, he was deeply moved by the film *A Morning of Encounters*, which opened his eyes to the viola da gamba; he studied under Philippe Pierlot in Belgium, and then at the Paris Conservatory under Christophe Cowan. After gaining recognition as a young and talented gamba player, he founded La Chapelle Harmonique in his early twenties and has since emerged as a rising star conductor, now receiving acclaim for his performances of Bach’s major Passion works. The program features the early version of the “Magnificat”—one of Bach’s most popular works in France—and a cantata for Christmas… The soloists include not only established talents such as McLeod and Brazikova—both well-known as leading singers with the Bach Collegium Japan—but also Eva Zaisik, who has released solo albums on the Alpha label.
