At Landowska's request, Poulenc and Falla composed concertos for the \"new\" instrument, but Falla himself believed that even the most robustly built instrument (harpsichords of the time had heavy metal frames to mimic the piano) could not match the sound of an orchestra, and eventually decided to perform chamber music and However, Landowska did not perform this work after its premiere, perhaps because the tone was too modern. Nevertheless, the sound of the harpsichord captured the hearts of many composers and gave birth to several new concertos. In this album, Vinikour, continuing the Landowska tradition, gives an excellent performance.
