In particular, the combination of *La Mer* and *Les Chants Oubliés* (CKD550) has received extremely high praise from all quarters.\n\nDuruflé served first as a chorister and later as an organist at major French churches, including Notre-Dame Cathedral. His “Requiem,” composed in 1947, is a stunningly beautiful work based on Gregorian chant and, alongside Fauré’s Requiem, enjoys widespread popularity in Japan. Here, it is performed in the full orchestral version, featuring Kojena as the mezzo-soprano soloist, while the baritone solo has been replaced by a bass unison from the choir.
