This recording of the “Violin Concerto”—Tetzlaff’s third, following collaborations with Gielen and Zinman—is a highly anticipated, major release in the run-up to the “Beethoven Year” of 2020. Tetsuraf, who is particular about his cadenzas, appears to have used an arrangement from the Piano Concerto in D major (the version featuring timpani) for the first movement, while employing his own original cadenzas for the second and third movements.\nIn the accompanying Sibelius recording as well, Tetzlaff displays outstanding technique and musicality, presenting listeners with new facets of both works—notably through a breathtakingly fast tempo and unique interpretation in the final movement.\n\nAccompanying him is Ticciati, who was appointed Principal Conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra at the age of 26 in the 2009–10 season and became Music Director of the Glyndebourne Festival in 2014.
