After losing his happy family and loved ones, he abandoned his musical career and established himself as an accountant in the U.S. He once took a Jewish woman as his wife, but they soon broke up. However, 35 years after his exile, he happened to meet his former lover again and regained his forgotten desire to create, writing numerous works until his death in November 2016 at the age of 96. His words, \"When I compose, my heart goes back to Vienna,\" became a symbolic phrase for musicians in exile and was used as the slogan for an exhibition held in Japan in 2017. Most of Fürstenthal's works are songs, but the rare chamber works included here offer beautiful melodies that recall the good old Vienna of the early 1900s.
