The Magnificat is the first release of this work. This recording was made during her first visit to Vienna in 1950, when the International Bach Festival celebrated the bicentennial of Bach's death with a performance of the Mass in B minor, the Matthew Passion, and the Magnificat. Although Bach was an important part of Faria's repertoire, the Magnificat was the only piece he rarely sang. While the Matthew Passion and Mass have been released on several albums, the Magnificat was somehow forgotten, and 68 years after the performance, the recording was finally found and released this time. The deep voice of the singer is extremely appealing.
