The \"Magic Flute\" Variations, today considered Sol's masterpiece, is based on \"how beautiful the sound\" of Monostatos and his men floating to the sound of Papageno's bell. The composition is composed around three large pieces, \"Andante Largo,\" dedicated to his wife, whose character is not well known, and \"Gran Solo,\" interspersed with smaller pieces. American-born William Carter is a founding member of the Palladian Ensemble and a baroque guitar virtuoso who has participated in many period ensembles, including the Ancient Chamber Orchestra.
