The program is based on Liss' native Russia. The program features a masterful symphony by Tchaikovsky, one of the leading composers of Liss's native Russia, and one from a stage work by Wagner, one of Europe's leading Romantic composers. At first glance, there seems to be no connection between the two works, but Tchaikovsky told people how wonderful it was when he heard \"Prelude and Death of Love\" conducted by Wagner himself about 10 years before he composed the Fourth Symphony, and it is said that he had a strong interest in its orchestral technique. The performance by Lisz and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Southern Netherland evokes deep emotions in the listener, recalling the footsteps of reform left by these two composers in the history of orchestral music.
