The Dante Quartet, a talented ensemble active mainly in the United Kingdom, has begun recording all of Stanford's string quartets, and the first collection (SOMMCD0160) shows off their excellent performance. In this second collection, the quartet performs Nos. 3, 4, and 7. The classical idiom of these works is full of romanticism and nostalgia, and they are all very appealing.
