This CD is a live recording of the band's 4th subscription concert, given on 30 April 2018 in the Grand Hall of the Kariya City Cultural Centre. It features three of Jan Van der Roost's most popular works. The appeal of Van der Roost's music lies in a structural sense and a sustained line rooted in the history of Western music, and Tatsuya Suzuki draws the very best from his players throughout.\n\n\u003ctatsuya suzuki director conductor\u003e\nBorn in Yokohama. After studying trumpet at the High School attached to the Tokyo College of Music, he graduated top of his class from the conducting department of the Faculty of Music at the Tokyo University of the Arts, receiving the Ataka Prize while still a student. After graduating he conducted the Geidai Philharmonia to considerable acclaim. He studied conducting with Kotaro Sato and Yasuhiko Shiozawa, trumpet with Akiyo Hayashi, and piano with Akiko Kitagawa, Yasuko Ida, Machiko Watanabe and Hanako Nishizawa. He has conducted the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra and the Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared with many soloists including Noriko Ogawa and Hatsumi Miura. In opera he has served as assistant conductor and chorus master for productions including Die Zauberflöte at the New National Theatre Tokyo, Die Zauberflöte for Nikikai, Der Rosenkavalier in a co-production between Biwako Hall and Kanagawa Kenmin Hall, Die Zauberflöte at the Nissay Theatre, La bohème for Chofu Civic Opera, Norma and Simon Boccanegra for Ota Civic Opera, La traviata for Matsumoto Civic Opera, and Le nozze di Figaro and Die Fledermaus for Kawasaki Civic Opera. He also served as conducting coach for the television special \"Nodame Cantabile New Year Special in Europe\" and the feature film \"Nodame Cantabile: The Final Movement\".
