Recorded on a Erard piano from Satie’s era, this is a gem of an album in which beautiful resonance fills the space.\n\nAccording to the artist’s notes, the piano was tuned not to equal temperament, but to a system blending the Pythagorean “Prince” tuning with meantone. The subtle interplay of pitches successfully brings out the special atmosphere inherent in Satie’s music—the same music that led Debussy to describe him as “a gentle medieval musician who has strayed into this century.”\n\nReleased by the ACOUSTICREVIVE label, renowned for its high sound quality. Like Shunsuke Sato’s Bach recording (KKC-6062)—also released by this label and winner of the 2019 Record Academy Award—this album was recorded in a Dutch church by sound engineer Sho Hamase. ACOUSTICREVIVE-manufactured power cables, power boxes, line cables, and microphone cables were used extensively in the recording, achieving unprecedented ultra-high sound quality.
