Recorded by jazz guitarist Akio Sasajima, who has been in the U.S. for 40 years, with his old friend Randy Brecker in a quintet, this is a must-hear straight-ahead jazz album that will satisfy jazz fans. The quintet features Berklee College of Music instructor Mark Walker on drums, Chicago-based Mark Tourian on bass, who has played with Joe Henderson, Terumasa Hino, and Dave Liebman, among others, and Sonny Stito, Brian Blade, and Joe Loverman on piano. The album features the title track, which is the largest piece in the trilogy at over 10 minutes, as well as Sasajima's original compositions and light bop tunes such as "Donna Lee". The result is a work that will keep you listening to it all the way through.
