This album, \"Cosmopolitan works by a cosmopolitan\", shines a light on the many sides of Kreisler. Among the highlights are lesser-known pieces: the posthumously published \"Episode\", which reminds us that Kreisler was a pupil of Bruckner; the Viennese Rhapsodic Fantasietta, close in spirit to La Valse and touched with something like madness; and the unaccompanied Recitativo and Scherzo, worthy of Ysaÿe himself. The result is a distinctive album in which a razor-sharp, finely tempered sound meets a tone of pure beauty. The recording was made at Manabiina, the Inawashiro Town exchange and activity centre that serves as the main venue of the Hideyo Noguchi Memorial Bandai Kogen International Music Festival, where Noé Inui appears each year as the leading artist.\n\nComrades in music since 2011\nNoé Inui and the pianist Toshiki Usui first met on 11 April 2011 at a charity concert for disaster relief in Nagoya, and since 2012 they have both been central figures in the Bandai Kogen International Music Festival, held in Fukushima Prefecture in memory of the Great East Japan Earthquake and in support of its recovery. Their quick-witted, instinctive ensemble is the fruit of seven years of playing together.\n\n\u003cno inui\u003e\nBorn in Brussels, Belgium. He graduated with highest honours from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe in Germany. He has won a special prize at the Sibelius International Competition, first prize at the Alberto Curci International Competition in Naples and first prize at the New York Young Artist International Competition, and appears in concert halls worldwide. He travelled to Japan in early April 2011 and is known as one of the very first artists to commit himself to the recovery effort.\n\n\u003ctoshiki usui\u003e\nBorn in Tokyo. He studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts and the Mozarteum University Salzburg, and has won numerous awards including first prize at the Cantù International Competition in Italy, the Donemus Prize in the Netherlands and a special prize for contemporary art in Vienna.
