Haydn’s Symphony No. 90 is brimming with a sense of presence, while Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, stripped of all excess, is supremely dynamic. Through a meticulous yet spirited interpretation, the ensemble unfolds a sound that is exquisitely beautiful and refreshingly pure. Please enjoy OLC’s even more refined, richly colored, and electrifying live performance. “The harmony created by the combination of original wind instruments—which differ significantly from modern ones in both material and construction—along with gut strings and Classical-era bows, blends seamlessly and is brimming with color.” (Hidemi Suzuki—from the liner notes)

<orchestra libera classica>
An orchestra specializing in the performance of Classical-era music on period instruments. Led by world-renowned cellist Hidemi Suzuki as its founder and music director, the orchestra held its inaugural concert in May 2002. Bringing together more than thirty soloist-level artists from Japan and abroad, the ensemble has garnered attention for its expressive power and innovative approach to the repertoire. It has shed new light on Haydn’s early and middle-period symphonies—works that are by no means widely known—and has also performed the “Paris Symphonies” as well as Mozart’s famous symphonies and serenades. Featuring Suzuki himself on cello, along with Natsumi Wakamatsu on violin, Stanley Hochland on fortepiano, and numerous other soloists, the ensemble has performed concertos and art songs. All of their regular concerts at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall have been recorded live and released on the “Arte dell’Arco” label, garnering acclaim alongside the concerts themselves.
King International</orchestra>
