The “Concert Spirituel” series, which ran from 1725 to 1790, was a major institution in Parisian musical life; of the 335 concerts held between 1781 and 1790, Haydn’s works were featured in 191 of them, and from 1785 onward, it was not uncommon for at least one of his works to be performed.
