Approaching contemporary jazz with their last album, "Lila Biali," and incorporating even the essence of indie rock/R&B with Snarky Puppy's Larnell Lewis, Mike Maher, Ambrose Akinmusire, Sam Yahel, and other new connections, their sound was a 2019 Juno Award Vocal Jazz Album of the Year winner (second time after 2011's "Tracing Light"). His latest album is a further maturation of that contemporary jazz line, with a sound that proportionally reveals his quality qualities as a singer and songwriter. The album also includes a moving Gregory Porter cover and a cover of Leonard Cohen's "Anthem," which is included only on the Japanese version.Members include Larnell Lewis (ds) and Mike Maher (tp) from Snarky Puppy, as on the previous album, Grammy nominee Alan Farber (tb, arr), who continues to be a trusted name in the large ensemble scene, and the most important album of 2019, "GLOBAL," with the buzz of Godwin Lewis (as), John Ellis (ts), GroundUp jewel Michelle Willis (vo), and others.
