During rehearsals, he gives very precise, to-the-point instructions, and it’s clear that the orchestra responds well to them. He discusses each concerto, weaving in the history of the piano as an instrument. We also get a glimpse of his relaxed, down-to-earth side as he sits around a table with friends, pouring wine naturally while chatting about everything from the hues of light to other topics.
