In the story, a “Great Raven”—capable of speaking human language—appears before the protagonist, who is grieving the loss of his lover, and unsettles his mind; its enigmatic words eventually drive the protagonist to the brink of madness. With its noble style, literary quality, and the classical allusions scattered throughout, making it a captivating narrative poem that has held the hearts of readers in its grip in so many ways. Toshio Hosokawa (1955–), one of Japan’s most celebrated composers, was also captivated by *The Great Raven*. Drawing inspiration from this mysterious tale, he discovered the worldview of *Noh*, Japan’s ancient traditional performing art, and by fusing these elements, he has created an entirely new universe. The expressive singing and narration by mezzo-soprano Charlotte Hellekant, who drives the story forward, are complemented by the exquisite ensemble playing of “Lucilin,” a renowned ensemble from Luxembourg. This is a gripping musical drama that masterfully captures even the sweet afterglow flickering amidst the terror.\nNaxos Japan\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Naxos","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53595436417313,"sku":"4562240279562","price":3056.0,"currency_code":"JPY","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0568\/8482\/2076\/files\/4562240279562.jpg?v=1790481108","url":"https:\/\/cdsvinyljapan.com\/products\/4562240279562","provider":"CDs Vinyl Japan Store","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
