She celebrated the 40th anniversary of her debut in 2017. She is highly regarded internationally, having performed frequently with orchestras both in Japan and abroad. After graduating at the top of her class from Toho Gakuen High School, she moved to France on a French government scholarship. At the Paris Conservatoire, she studied piano under Pierre Sancan and chamber music under Jean Hubert. She has won prizes at numerous international competitions, including the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition. In addition to her recitals in Japan, she has performed frequently with major Japanese orchestras, including the NHK Symphony Orchestra. In recent years, she participated in the Cannes Music Festival, where she was highly praised for her “brilliant performance, underpinned by technical mastery.” She has released numerous CDs; her album *French Piano Works—Harumi Hanabusa Live Series II* (NARD-5041) was selected as a “Special Selection” by *Record Arts* magazine. In 2007, marking the 30th anniversary of her debut in Japan, she gave a recital at Kioi Hall in Tokyo over two nights in the fall that could be described as the culmination of her career. In January 2011, she made her U.S. debut at Carnegie Hall in New York, and in November, she performed at the “SOIREE ANNIVERSAIRE Franz L. Szet and Georges Cziffra” (commemorative gala). In addition to his solo performances, he has collaborated with Philippe Giugiano, Yves Henri, and Jean-Philippe Collard, among others, to great acclaim. In March 2013, he premiered “Akira Nishimura: Piano Concerto ‘Shaman’” at the Michael Simmel Arts Center (New York), attracting significant attention.
