To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Debussy's birth, Sony Classical is releasing a disc of Debussy's most famous orchestral works by the Orchestre National de France, conducted by master Italian conductor Daniele Gatti. He is 51 years old, and although he is the Music Director of the Orchestre National de France and the Principal Conductor of the Zurich Opera, and has been a regular guest of the Vienna Philharmonic and other major orchestras and renowned music festivals such as Bayreuth and Salzburg, he is a "master of illusion" whose recordings are extremely rare, and it has been some time since a session orchestra recording was made. The session orchestral recordings have not been made for a long time. In his masterpieces that revolutionized 20th century musical language, such as the symphonic poems "The Sea," "Prelude to the Pastoral Afternoon," and "Images for Orchestra," Gatti plays with the clarity of the famous Orchestre National de France and delivers a precise, yet dynamic and lively performance.
