Mravinsky is still great. Prokofiev's \"Romeo and Juliet\" Suite No. 2, which was performed live in Bergen in 1961, is now available in its entirety on SACD single layer. The live recording of Mravinsky and the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra's May 1961 appearance at a music festival in Bergen, Norway, is now also available on SACD Single Layer! This recording is reissued from the original broadcast master source used by Radio France! Both are Mravinsky's eighteenth performances, but the performances are brilliant and exciting. The overture to \"The Marriage of Figaro,\" which even gives the impression of Mozart's madness, and the Suite No. 2 from \"Romeo and Juliet,\" which makes you wonder how Mravinsky could make such a familiar melody sound so tense. The propulsive force and the magnitude of the music overwhelm you with Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, and you can enjoy a dream moment to the fullest. The sound quality is very good even though it is in mono.
