Having honed his skills in Italy and Germany, Kuroiwa’s piano playing features a refined, delicate touch, and he delivers striking performances of various Bach keyboard works and arrangements. He is a performer whose future activities are sure to draw attention.\n\n\n\u003charuka kuroiwa\u003e\nBorn in Mitaka City, Tokyo. Born into a family of musicians, she began studying piano at the age of five under Fumiko Yoshida at the Toho Gakuen Music School. At Tokyo College of Music High School, she studied under Takashi Hironaka and Kazuko Miyazaki. While a student there, she received a special scholarship. She subsequently traveled to Europe to further her studies at the Imola International Piano Academy in Italy. In addition to studying under Franco Scala, the late Lazar Berman, Boris Petrushansky, Leonid Margarius, and Serkay Babayan, she also received instruction from Ivo Pogorelić. He has won numerous awards, including third place at the A. Napolitano International Piano Competition, the Diploma Award at the Principality of Andorra International Piano Competition, the Diploma Award at the AMA Calabria International Competition, third place at the Marsala International Competition, first prize at the Padua International Competition, and the Grand Prix at the Ōmagari New Artists Music Festival, among others. To date, he has given recitals at the Lake Stresa Maggiore Music Festival, the Gislandi International Music Festival, the Imola Music Festival, the Mozart-Schubert Music Festival, the Civita Music Festival, and the Milan Yamaha-Italia Festival, among others. He has also performed with the Romanian National Bacău Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestra of the Republic of Moldavia, the Zagreb String Quartet, the Rovere Chamber Orchestra, the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra, and others.
