Mrs. Doris’s personality is quite something as well. The Brahms recordings are all masterful performances, brimming with power and depth. The performances are superb, ranging from the symphonies to the “Tragic Overture.” You can also fully appreciate Milstein’s virtuosity. Berlioz’s performances are marked by majestic tempo choices, revealing the conductor’s skill in bringing the score to life calmly and meticulously, without getting carried away by the frenzy. The 1911 version of *Petrushka*, which Montu premiered, is one of his signature works. Clear, transparent melodies emerge from the large-scale orchestra.
