The first remastered stereo live reissue of the same day's stereo Beethoven and Dvo8! The hard-to-find Ancell and Concertgebouw recordings have been reissued with new couplings and new remastering. This disc contains the live performance on January 28, 1970. This disc includes Beethoven's Violin Concerto, performed by Clevers, the famous concerto conductor of the Concertgebouw, and Dvorak's No. 8, which is also highly acclaimed for its excellent performance. The stereo recording is in excellent sound quality. This disc is also a memorial to violinist Hermann Krebers, who passed away on May 2, 2018. Krebers led the string section of the Concertgebouw, which was praised as \"like velvet. His solo performance is of the same beauty as the orchestra, but with a powerful and dignified quality. The sense of singing that expands and contracts the rhythms without destroying the classical neatness is truly delightful. The rich bass and strong treble notes are beautifully recorded, and the sense of euphoria in the final movement, when the orchestra and I are united in exultation, is wonderful. The Anchelle is also beautifully balanced. The cadenza is by Kreisler. In Dvorak's 8th, Ancier's character was in full force. The Czech Philharmonic Orchestra is no less masterful in this performance. While making the most of the beautiful sound of the Concertgebouw, the orchestra plays Dvorak's music with sympathy and enthusiasm. The melody sung by the strings in the third movement is hauntingly beautiful. And the finale is a raging climax! Hats off to the Concertgebouw for responding perfectly to Ancell's earnest conducting with a full sound.
