The third collection in the archive series tracing the path of Masahiro Arita, a musician of French musical chic shown on both period and modern instruments, this 2-CD set includes \"The World of Michel Bravais\" on period instruments and \"Recreation Recital\" on modern instruments. The former is a one-time performance given in 1981 on the day before the concert of the same name, without an audience, and marks the dawn of full-scale performances on period instruments in Japan. The latter is from the legendary recitals given in 1980 and 1982 by an ensemble formed mainly by the principal members of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. These two precious recordings of one musician's involvement with French music are now available on CD for the first time. It is surprising that they were performed at the same time, but this is a remarkable disc that allows us to listen to both modern and period performances at once. The booklet, which includes an interview with Mr. Arita, is very interesting and includes many anecdotes from that time. It also includes many rare photos provided by Mr. Arita himself. The bravée on CD 1 was recorded and mastered by Masao Mineo, a close friend of Mr. Arita.Masahiro Arita PROFILEIn 1971, he won the first prize at the 40th NHK Mainichi Music Competition (now the Japan Music Competition).
