The "Last Bruckner" by Skrowaczewski and the NHK Symphony Orchestra. Included is the overwhelming No. 8, the culmination of both their efforts! Skrowaczewski is a Bruckner specialist, but No. 8 seems to be especially dear to his heart, and he has chosen No. 8 for his "last Bruckner performance" with several orchestras. This 2006 performance was his last Bruckner performance with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, and it is a tremendous performance that should be called the culmination of both of them. The intensity of the performance is not simply hot and vigorous, but is controlled and objective through rigorous sound construction. However, it is not cold, of course, and there are beautiful songs that can be heard because of the perfectly controlled balance, creating an ethereal world that is out of this world. Every moment is seamless, and every note is connected to the final climax. The Mozart coupling is also excellent.Dashing and fresh, this is a superb carving and polishing that transcends the modern period. You will enjoy its logical and clean brilliance. King International
