The Berlin Philharmonic appeared for the first time in 1957, the Concertgebouw in 1958, and the French National and New York Philharmonic in 1959. Kempe's Salz is his second appearance since the Palestrina in 1955, and his first in an orchestral concert. This will be his first orchestral concert. The program for this concert was well thought out, with Handel's debut for strings, Mozart's French woodwind virtuosity, and the Symphonie fantastique, all very appealing. Above all, No. 24 with Lord Curzon is a beauty of the highest order, and the second movement is truly sublime! The second movement is truly sublime! The finale, for example, is slightly less loud, as if the woodwind players are having a small conversation with each other, giving a sense of loneliness and solitude. This is Mozart's solitary and lonely performance. The fantasy is also beautifully expressed by Kempe, who also recorded it with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at the same time on EMI. The Decapitation March is also very elegant! This dramatic change is overwhelming, and one can appreciate Kempe's mastery of orchestral control. The sound source is provided by the Institut National d'Audiovisual de France. The sound quality is good for its age.
