A live compilation of four shows from 1968 to 1970 that showcases Janis' greatness as a live artist! When you listen to these live recordings, you will realize once again how great a singer Janis Joplin is. Her record debut was in 1967, when she was 24 years old, and she was active for only three years until her death in 1970. This 2-CD set is a compilation of the live recordings she left during such a short period of activity. Their debut year passed without much fanfare, but in August 1968, "Cheap Thrills" was released and became a huge hit, reaching No. 1 for eight weeks in a row. The band's talent became well known. Included here are six songs from a July 1968 appearance at the Newport Folk Festival with Big Brother & Holding Company, just before his breakthrough, and a Dutch performance from an April 1969 tour of Europe with the Cosmic Blues Band. 8 songs from FM broadcast recordings. 6 songs from the FM broadcast of the Dallas show on 8/30/69, just before the release of the "Kozmic Blues" album.And seven songs from three Dick Cavett Shows and two songs from the Tom Jones Show from his TV appearances. It is especially valuable to hear four songs with the Full Tilt Boogie Band from "Pearl," which was not yet released at the time. Janis tends to be talked about only in terms of drugs and sex, but in these live recordings, we can enjoy her vocal work in full bloom in a soul manner with moderate ad-lib narration. The emotion in her singing may have been blues, but her style as a singer is that of a soul singer. And her voice dominated the atmosphere as soon as she started singing. This 2-CD set contains 29 songs that allow you to fully enjoy the essence of the singer. It's still amazing.
