In this collaborative project with an impressionistic feel, the two artists from different generations share the idea of electronic music as a source of inspiration for new musical structures, and have collaborated on several albums, including \"Vrioon\" (2002), \"Insen\" (2005), \"Revep\" (2006), \"Utp_\" (2006), and \"V.I.R.U.S.\" (2006). (2006), \"Utp_\" (2009), and \"Summvs\" (2011), the five works in the series explore meditative sound worlds that combine expressive richness, breath, and precise design, while fusing electronic and acoustic sounds.(The name \u003cv.i.r.u.s.\u003e is composed of the initial letters of the five albums in the series.) This album was produced for the 400th anniversary of the city of Mannheim, Germany. The title \"Utp_\" is taken from the word \"utopia,\" a rasterization of the city of Mannheim in southwestern Germany, founded in 1608, and the ten songs that flow and unfold from that structure took shape. This recording is a recording of the world premiere with the German contemporary music chamber ensemble Ensemble Modern, which took place at the National Theater in Mannheim.
